BAYLY & COLLIS - ARTISAN TABLEWARE

At the top of their fields, chef Ben Bayly and potter Peter Collis combine their talents to produce an exciting new range of stoneware tableware.

Executive chef of 3 Hat restaurant ‘The Grove” and award winning ‘Baduzzi’, Ben approached Peter two years ago to design and make exclusive ranges of plates and bowls for use in these exceptional restaurants. Known throughout NZ as a talented potter, Peter had already added commission tableware to his well-known hand made objects and exhibition pieces. The outcome of this collaboration has proved to be so successful that it is now being incorporated into this seasons MKR (My Kitchen Rules) and Masterchef, sponsored by Stevens and co-judged by Ben Bayly.

The tableware is designed in a collaborative process by Ben, Peter and Collis Studio’s other half, ceramic designer Julie Collis. Manufactured in NZ it builds on the proud history of the production potteries of New Zealand’s past. This range encapsulates the hand-made pottery all New Zealanders love and have used, evoking memories of their childhood. The beautiful satin matt glazes have the warmth and colours from our distinctive NZ landscapes. The design reflects the hand made mugs and plates from our past, when the handmade was treasured as part of our culture.

Good looking and durable these pieces have been modernized to relate to current trends and interiors, moving away from formal sets towards complimentary collections of plates, bowls and mugs. Available from Stevens, click here.
